2026 Japan Fair

🇯🇵 Seattle Abacus School at Japan Fair 2026

This past weekend, Seattle Abacus School had the wonderful opportunity to participate as an exhibitor at Japan Fair 2026 at Meydenbauer Center in Bellevue! Japan Fair is one of the largest celebrations of Japanese culture in the Pacific Northwest, bringing together thousands of visitors to enjoy Japanese traditions, food, performances, workshops, and local businesses.

Our booth was filled with smiles all weekend as children and families stopped by to learn about the Japanese abacus, or soroban.

One of the biggest highlights was our "Make Your Own Soroban" workshop, where children were able to assemble and decorate their very own rainbow soroban. It was wonderful to see so many young learners excited to discover this traditional Japanese learning tool.

We also introduced visitors to:

  • Our abacus classes for children

  • The benefits of soroban training for math skills, concentration, and confidence

  • Our original So-ro Nini stickers and school merchandise

  • Traditional Japanese-made abacuses available for purchase

Many families were surprised to learn how the soroban helps children develop strong mental math skills while making learning enjoyable.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who stopped by our booth, asked questions, purchased an abacus or stickers, and participated in our activities. Meeting so many new families from the local community was truly inspiring.

A special thank you to the Japan Fair organizers and volunteers for creating such an amazing event celebrating Japanese culture and bringing our community together.

We look forward to welcoming many new students to Seattle Abacus School!

Thank you for making Japan Fair 2026 such a memorable weekend!
