Soroban Demo at John Stanford International School
Soroban Demo at John Stanford International School: A Fun Math Experience
We recently had the wonderful opportunity to visit John Stanford International School (JSIS) and introduce soroban (Japanese abacus) to the students!
Over the course of two days, we visited multiple classrooms and had the chance to work with many enthusiastic students. Each session was filled with curiosity, excitement, and lots of smiles as students explored a new way of thinking about numbers.
During the demo, students learned how the soroban works and even tried simple calculations themselves. It was amazing to see how quickly they picked up the concept and how engaged they were throughout the activities. Some students were especially excited to challenge themselves and solve problems using this unique method!
Soroban is not only a powerful tool for calculation, but also helps develop concentration, memory, and confidence in math. Seeing students enjoy the process of learning was truly rewarding for us.
We are very grateful to the teachers and staff at JSIS for welcoming us into their classrooms and supporting this experience.
We look forward to continuing to share the benefits of soroban with more students in our community!
